Prescott is located high in the Bradshaw Mountains in central Arizona.

Prescott began as a gold mining town and for a short time was capital city of the Arizona Territory. The Yavapai-Prescott Indian Tribe reservation is partially within Prescott city limits.

Nearby mountains, Willow Lake and a national forest provide ample outdoor beauty and recreation opportunities. Prescott is home to Prescott College, a small, private, liberal arts college.
