A high HDD indicates a cold climate and a high CDD indicates a warm climate.

Heating Degree Days (HDD)
Measure of how cold it is relative to 65 degrees. Relates temperature to the demands
of a/c. Calculated as the number of degrees that a day's average temperature
(high + low / 2) is below 65.

Example: On June 20 in Bellingham, the day's high was 72 and low was 50. The
average temperature was 61 meaning June 20 had 4 heating degree days.

Cooling Degree Days (CDD)
Measure of how hot it is relative to 65 degrees. Relates temperature to the demands
of heating a residence. Calculated as the number of degrees that a day's average
temperature (high + low / 2) is above 65.
