Portland, originally settled in 1632 by the British, was destroyed and rebuilt four times, three times because of war and once because of fire.

Portland is Maine's largest city and is one of the largest ports in the United States. Portland is the cultural, entertainment and economic capital of Maine and is a major draw for tourists.
